General Summary 

The Health & Environmental Program Manager will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and controlling hazards to ensure the health and well-being of LAIKA employees. This role will implement and monitor control strategies to eliminate or reduce exposure to hazards and ergonomic impacts, including managing the on-site chemical inventory and hazardous waste, support and facilitate ergonomic safety programs, and monitor hygiene-related hazards. 

Job Functions 

  • Conduct routine industrial hygiene monitoring (e.g., air quality, noise levels, chemical exposure, etc.) and maintain required documentation and reports in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Maintain the chemical inventory system, ensuring accurate SDS documentation, proper labeling, and coordination with departments on chemical use reduction and substitution.
  • Work with ergonomic vendor to coordinate and perform ergonomic assessments of workstations and production environments, including documenting findings, making recommendations, and supporting implementation of ergonomic improvements.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and maintain all safety trainings and materials, working with internal teams and external vendors to ensure consistent delivery of content.
  • Track and manage hazardous waste storage, labeling, and disposal, including organizing pickups, maintaining manifests, and ensuring compliance with permit and SPCC plan requirements.
  • Support the Safety & Environmental Manager by gathering data, preparing reports, and assisting with compliance tracking related to industrial hygiene, chemical safety, and environmental programs.
  • Monitor studio spaces for potential ergonomic or hygiene-related risks and report findings with recommended corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper placement and maintenance of secondary chemical labels and safety signage in studio and production areas.
  • Maintain and update recordkeeping systems related to industrial hygiene monitoring, ergonomic assessments, chemical usage, and environmental compliance.
  • Assist with health and environment-related elements of emergency preparedness, including spill response procedures and material safety practices. 

Qualifications 

  • 5+ years’ experience in production/manufacturing environment, including 2+ years are directly related to ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and environmental regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of emergency response and handling hazardous materials, required.
  • Strong knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) regulations on hazardous waste and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health's (NIOSH) guidelines for workplace exposure limits, required.  
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills and proficient in MS Office software.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee works under typical office conditions and is exposed to variable indoor temperatures. The noise level is usually quiet or moderate.  

Location

On-site in Hillsboro, OR, and eligible for hybrid work.

Salary

Salary is commensurate with skills and experience.
