Public company, workplace, funding, and market signals

Updated Aug 5, 2026

Overview

SumUp is a London-headquartered private fintech founded in 2012 that helps small businesses accept in-person and online payments and manage adjacent operations and finances. Its core product is a card-reader/POS ecosystem expanded with payment links, online checkout/store, invoicing, business accounts, loyalty and merchant-finance products. Public company material says it serves over 4 million merchants in 38 markets and employs more than 3,000 people across 20+ offices. Funding data is inconsistent across databases because it mixes equity and debt; the best-documented recent transactions are the €285m/$307m December 2023 growth round and €1.5bn May 2024 private-credit transaction. Public evidence for remote policy, precise annual revenue, monthly traffic and a complete current executive roster is limited; those fields should be treated as estimates or unavailable rather than definitive.

Primary product

An integrated small-business payments platform centered on EMV/contactless card readers and POS, supplemented by online checkout/payment links, invoicing, online store, business account, loyalty and merchant-finance tools.
