About Helion

We are a fusion power company based in Everett, WA, with the mission to build the world's first fusion power plant, enabling a future with unlimited clean electricity. Our vision is a world with clean, reliable, and affordable energy for everyone.

Since Helion's founding in 2013, we have raised $1.5 billion from long-time investors such as Sam Altman, Mithril, and Capricorn Investment Group as well as new investors including Thrive Capital, LightSpeed Venture Capital, SoftBank, and others to propel us forward. Our current prototype, Polaris, has reached record-breaking plasma temperatures of 150 million degrees Celsius (13 keV). Helion is continuing to iterate and on the path to the world's first fusion power plant, Orion.

This is a pivotal time to join Helion. You will tackle real-world challenges with a team that prizes urgency, rigor, ownership, and a commitment to delivering hard truths – values essential to achieving what no one has before. Together, we will change the future of energy, because the world can't wait.

What You Will Be Doing:
As a Quality Inspector (Receiving & MRB), you'll play a critical role in ensuring that incoming supplier materials and internally manufactured hardware meet Helion's engineering and quality standards before entering production.

You'll perform receiving, first-piece, in-process, and final inspections, verify dimensional and documentation requirements, maintain product traceability, and support the control of nonconforming material through Helion's Material Review Board (MRB) process.

Working closely with Manufacturing, the Machine Shop, Engineering, Receiving, Supplier Quality, Sourcing, and Warehousing, you'll help protect product quality while enabling the efficient flow of material needed to build reliable fusion generators.

This role is responsible for identifying and documenting quality issues, preparing material for MRB review, and executing approved dispositions. Engineering and the Material Review Board retain authority for disposition decisions. This is an onsite role that reports directly to the Inspection Supervisor at our Everett location.

You Will:

  • Inspect incoming supplier materials and internally manufactured hardware by performing receiving, first-piece, in-process, and final inspections to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements

  • Perform dimensional inspections and maintain traceability by interpreting engineering drawings, using precision measurement tools, documenting inspection results, and verifying material certifications and product records

  • Control nonconforming material by identifying quality issues, placing material on quality hold, initiating nonconformance records, and preparing documentation for Material Review Board (MRB) review

  • Support the MRB process by providing inspection data and product history, then executing approved dispositions—including rework, repair, return to supplier, or scrap while recognizing that Engineering and the MRB retain disposition authority

  • Partner across Manufacturing, Machine Shop, Engineering, Receiving, Supplier Quality, and Sourcing to resolve quality issues, improve inspection processes, and drive continuous improvement throughout manufacturing

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of quality inspection experience in manufacturing or another technical production environment

  • Experience inspecting precision machined or electromechanical components using standard dimensional inspection equipment

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and technical documentation

  • Experience identifying, documenting, and controlling nonconforming material while maintaining accurate inspection records and traceability

  • Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams in a fast-paced environment
