The Opportunity

Flexport is growing its operations in the local market, and this is your chance to help build them. As an Ocean Operations Associate, you’ll play a critical role in making global trade easy for our customers, connecting with over 10,000 clients and suppliers across 109 countries. You’ll work in a cross-functional environment, partnering closely with forwarding partners, ocean carriers, trucking providers, and internal teams to deliver consistent, high-quality ocean freight operations.

What You'll Do

Operational Execution

  • Use Flexport allocation tools to actively route cargo to ocean carrier contracts with optimal cost, transit time, and allocation availability
  • Ensure all operational activities comply with international shipping regulations, company policies, and customer SOPs
  • Prepare presentations and analysis for monthly and quarterly partner review processes

Performance Management

  • Build and maintain an operational performance framework, including processes and tools to measure ocean partner performance across the local market
  • Drive performance management of freight forwarding partners, customs partners, and ocean carriers using global metrics, targets, dashboards, and reporting
  • Define and refine operational performance and product adoption metrics in alignment with Account Management, Global Operations, and Operational Excellence teams

Partner & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and coach to partners, continuously identifying gaps and developing solutions focused on process standardisation
  • Identify partner training needs, and design and execute training programmes to drive operational quality
  • Build strong relationships with global stakeholders, managing competing priorities and influencing outcomes across teams

Enablement & Continuous Improvement

  • Create enablement resources so internal teams can efficiently manage shipments in and out of the local market
  • Challenge the status quo when logic and data call for it, and take ownership of fixing what is broken
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives that drive quality and consistency across operations

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in professional logistics or supply chain operations
  • Hands-on experience in ocean export or import operations on main trade lanes (e.g. TPEB, Trans-Pacific Eastbound, from East Asia to the US and Canada)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to generate data-driven insights that inform decisions and strategy
  • Professional proficiency in English, with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to identify win-win operational and business opportunities
  • Proven experience managing programmes and initiatives end to end
  • A proactive, compliance-first mindset, with an understanding of the importance of operating within a heavily regulated industry
