About Overview.ai

Overview.ai brings the cutting edge of AI computer vision to manufacturing, solving inspection problems that traditional machine vision could not handle. We build GPU-powered smart cameras, deploy them on production lines around the world, and operate the platform that keeps those fleets running.

Our customers love the product because it works: high accuracy, fast deployment, and an operator-friendly experience that makes real factory rollouts possible (not just pilots).

The Role

As a Junior IIoT Engineer, you will help bring our systems live at customer sites: connecting smart cameras to line PLCs, building the logic that runs the inspections, and making sure everything runs reliably on the factory floor.

You will be mentored and grow into someone who can own an entire deployment. We provide structured training in Node-RED, camera inspection-recipe building, and English. We do not expect you to master these tools on day one, but we do expect you to already have a solid industrial-field foundation (see Requirements), which we build on to make you a fully capable engineer.

Key Responsibilities

Deployment and Commissioning

  • Deploy and commission Overview.ai vision-inspection systems on customer production lines, on-site.

  • Create and tune camera inspection recipes for each product (regions of interest, models, pass/fail criteria).

  • Set up and troubleshoot on-site: cameras, industrial networking and switches, and connectivity issues, using our existing internal diagnostic tools.

Integration

  • Build and maintain integration logic in Node-RED (data flow between cameras, PLCs, HMIs, and dashboards).

  • Integrate cameras with factory PLCs over I/O, EtherNet/IP, and Profinet: triggering, handshake signals, and result reporting.

Customer Support and Teamwork

  • Support customers on-site: basic training, issue resolution, and clear written and photo documentation of each deployment.

  • Work closely with the team, escalating complex problems while steadily taking on more independence.

Requirements

  • A diploma or degree in Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related industrial field. A Computer Science or software background is also fine if paired with hands-on factory experience.

  • A working foundation in industrial fundamentals, which we expect you to have on day one:

    • Basic concepts of PLCs and industrial automation (signals, I/O, trigger and handshake logic).

    • A basic understanding of common manufacturing processes.

    • The ability to read and clarify on-site requirements, turning customer needs into actionable inspection and integration specs.

    • Solid troubleshooting instincts: systematically pinpointing what went wrong and why.

  • A strong hands-on drive and problem-solving mindset: you like to dig into why something is not working and fix it.

  • Basic English reading and writing, with a genuine willingness to improve.

  • Able and willing to travel frequently across China and Southeast Asia, with a valid passport.

  • Reliable, communicative, and comfortable working directly in a live factory environment.

Nice to Have (not required, we will train you)

  • Hands-on experience with specific PLC brands or industrial protocols (Keyence, EtherNet/IP, MQTT, or similar).

  • Any scripting or programming experience (JavaScript, Python), or low-code tools such as Node-RED.

  • Familiarity with machine vision, industrial cameras, or industrial networking.

  • Basic SQL or dashboard tools.

What We Offer

  • A clear training path: Node-RED and camera-recipe building training, plus English training by an external instructor (two-year program).

  • On-the-job training and mentorship: you learn by doing on real projects.

  • Fast, real ownership: you will be commissioning live systems at major manufacturers.

  • A growth track from Junior IIoT Engineer to IIoT Engineer to Senior IIoT Engineer.
